Several options to get into the forest regularly over the course of the school year to enrich children’s learning through nature awareness and connection, in a unique outdoor environment.

Forest Learners

A three or four day per week nature-based program that merges the BC core curriculum and academics with Soaring Eagle Nature School programming. One day spent in the classroom is complimented by two to three full days in the forest. The small class size (10-12) and high adult to child ratio (1:6) supports our philosophy for hands-on, project-based, and passion-driven learning in a setting that enables secure, genuine, and caring attachment between learner and mentor.

Ages 7 to 9

Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, plus optional Wednesdays

Young Sprouts Weekly Nature School

A forest adventure every week during the school year for a younger age group to experience opportunities for independence, emotional and social awareness, and comfort within the natural world. Weeks are spent on each curriculum piece of the 8 shields model, creating a solid foundation of outdoor and place-based learning. The small class size of 12 and high adult to child ratio (1:6) enables high-quality interactions and connections with students.

Weekly Nature School

An adventure in the forest every week during the school year to create deep nature connection and awareness with weeks spent on each curriculum piece of the 8 shields model. The small class size and a majority of time spent in a small group environment of 7 kids per mentor supports high-quality interactions and programming customized to the group’s specific needs and interests.

Monthly Nature School

A forest day almost every month during the school year for a total of 7 sessions to reorient youth to nature and support connection with a sense of place. Each session carries a theme based on the 8 shields model that provides inspiration and direction for skills, projects, and challenges.

Teen Internship

A day spent in the forest almost every month during the school year for teens with previous Soaring Eagle Nature School experience to be a mentor alongside Soaring Eagle instructors. Each of the 7 sessions allows teens to utilize their knowledge and skills to support younger kids and to continue practicing awareness and nature connection, while developing a new skill set and gaining volunteer hours.

Teen Wild Within Program

A once a month teen wilderness adventure with eight Saturdays at local parks over the course of a year. Skills developed during each program date follows the 8 shields model.

Family Forest Program

A forest adventure almost every month from September to June to experience Soaring Eagle’s educational and fun programming with your family over 7 sessions. Ideal for parents with kids between the ages 2 to 8, the 8 shields model and Coyote Mentoring are used to support growth and discoveries in the natural world.

Our 5-day camps during Spring Break and Summer are fun-filled days in nature packed with learning and adventure! Camps are a great introduction to Soaring Eagle programming and a way to continue building on year-long program experiences.

An advanced 5-day camp for youth with previous Soaring Eagle experience and at the older end of our camp age range to explore higher-level skills, like bow drill making, and deepen naturalist and awareness skills that contribute to becoming a great ninja!
