Young Sprouts Weekly Nature School provides an adventure in the forest every week during the school year for a younger age group to experience opportunities for independence, emotional and social awareness, and comfort within the natural world. Weeks are spent creating a solid foundation of outdoor and place-based learning. The small class size of 12 and high adult to child ratio (1:6) enables high-quality interactions and connections with students.
Program Highlights
- Curiosity-led exploration outdoors with learning opportunities introduced naturally and imaginative play that makes learning fun
- Variety in games, stories, projects, songs, and challenges through weekly themes
- Flexibility to account for the energy of the group and the season
- Mentoring delivered by experienced instructors to support students developing problem-solving skills, self-sufficiency, and a deeper level of learning
- High adult to student ratio (1:6) and small class size of 12
- Field trips to explore different ecosystems, habitats, and learning environments
- Emphasis on emotional awareness, compassion, and gratitude
